About

Well then.

My name is Will R. Clifft, and I’m a student enrolled at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. I’m creating this blog because over the next 1-12 months I’ll be transitioning into life as a member of the United Kingdom’s academic system, and as we all know that’s surely bound to result in something interesting happening.

I’ll be based at the University of Manchester (located in Manchester, England), and I’ll be taking courses that focus on international relations and spending my time studying various cultures throughout the world. If that sounds vague, it’s because it is. If anyone asks you for a concrete explanation of what it is I’m actually doing over here, mumble something about finding world peace and hold awkward eye contact until they change the subject.

I really don’t know how all of this will be structured in the coming months, if it even survives that long, but rest assured its primary mission is to give those reading it some sort of insight into student life in a foreign country. Posts will appear roughly once every week, once every other week, once a month, or never at all. Who knows? Time is relative. We’re all figments of each others’ imaginations anyways.

This study abroad program is a product of generous scholarships and patient professors, and is being primarily facilitated by the University of Tennessee’s Programs Abroad Office, to which I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude. You guys are the best.

I think that about covers everything for now.

Sincerely,

Will Clifft
